Fabien Ghirotto - Drums, Composition

Formed in 2022, the Fabien Ghirotto Quartet draws on a variety of influences ranging from Miles Davis second quintet to the more contemporary developments of the New York's next generation (Ambrose Akinmusire, Immanuel Wilkins).

The compositions are designed to leave plenty of room for improvisation, allowing the musicians of the quartet to express their creativity in eclectic arrangements that are sometimes intimate, sometimes abundant. The presence of the bass clarinet in the ensemble creates many possibilities of timbre and allows the ensemble's sound palette to be strengthened to offer a singular sound.

The listener can appreciate the cohesion of the musicians on stage. The result is original, nuanced music based on interaction.

Yves Marcotte - Double bass

Curious and a jack-of-all-trades, Yves Marcotte defines himself by his forward-looking attitude : nothing is more stimulating for him than the discovery of a new sound world. He feeds on all music without aesthetic, geographical, temporal or legitimacy barriers.

Having as models Oscar Pettiford, Paul Chambers, Israel Crosby and Larry Grenadier for the double bass, and his Holy Trinity (Ellington-Monk-Mingus) for the arrangement and jazz composition, he is also influenced by other creators with singular aesthetics (Ligeti, Zappa, Ducret, Stravinsky, ...).

The first album of his flagship project Always Know Monk, which revisits the Monkian legacy in a quartet without piano, was critically acclaimed. He co-leads the trio Kolmoset, a Jazz à Venir revelation of Jazz à Porquerolles. He is also a sought-after sideman for the warmth of his sound and his sense of listening.
